Anna Leigh Ashford
Annaleigh Amanda Ashford, an American actress and a singer. She was a dancer and singer in the early days of Broadway roles include Wicked Legally Blonde & Hair. In the musical, Hair. Tony Award was given to her for the character of Essie Carmichael from You Can't Take It With You. Annaleigh Ashley is a Tony Award winning actor as well as actress has worked with directors and actors on the stage and on screen throughout all her life. Ashford is scheduled to be in the role of Kumail Nanjiani in the Hulu exclusive program Welcome to Chippendales from creator Robert Siegel premiering on November 22. Ashford is in the process of completing production on Searchlight Pictures' horror thriller Dust starring opposite Sarah Paulson and Ebon Moss-Bachrach. The film is a Hulu Original, the film will become available on Disney DTC's digital platforms. Ashford comes back to Broadway in the month of March 2023 with the role of Josh Groban opposite Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. The production will be held at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. This production will be directed by Thomas Kail and produced by Jeffrey Seller, the team that brought you Hamilton. Ashford most recently starred Paula Jones in the new Ryan Murphy FX series American Crime Story Impeachment based on the crisis in America that picked across the country. Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky and Linda Tripp as principal characters in the country's first impeachment proceeding in nearly 100 years. Over the course of two seasons, Ashford was an actor on the popular CBS show B Positive. She also appeared in the successful series that was created by Marco Pennette Chuck Lorre, in which she starred alongside legendary actors Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo Ben Vereen. She is no stranger to Broadway Ashford was awarded the Tony Drama Desk Award and the Outer Critics Circle Awards with her character Essie. She has also appeared on Broadway as a character in Sunday in the Park With George Wicked, Legally Blonde as well as the original performance of Lauren In Kinky Boots for which she was nominated for the Tony Award. Ashford was born and raised in Denver she now splits her life between Los Angeles, and New York.
